How to Look Like Yourself in Brand Photos
Let’s be honest—there’s nothing worse than showing up for a photo shoot and immediately feeling like you’re supposed to become some polished version of yourself you don’t even recognize. You want to look confident and legit… but also like you. Not stiff. Not overly styled. Definitely not fake-smiling through the awkward poses.

Here’s the deal: your brand isn’t just what you do—it’s how you make people feel. And your photos? They’re often the first impression.
So if your visuals are giving “generic stock photo” energy instead of “this is exactly who I want to work with,” it might be time for a reset.
I’ve had so many clients tell me they’re awkward in front of the camera, or they don’t know what to do with their hands, or they’ve never loved a photo of themselves. But once we dig into what actually makes them feel like themselves—something shifts. You can literally see their energy change. And that’s what makes the photos magnetic.
How to look more like you
Start with the feeling, not the pose. What do you want your audience to feel when they see your photos? Trust? Warmth? Confidence? Quirky relatability? That’s your North Star.
Wear what makes you feel good in your body. That might be a bold jumpsuit or your favorite jeans and a cozy oversized sweater. There are no rules except: if it makes you feel weird or like you’re trying too hard, ditch it.
Move. Breathe. Laugh. Talk with your hands. Fix your hair. Look off to the side. Be in the moment. Some of the best shots come in between the ones you think are “the good ones.”
