What to Wear for Your Brand Shoot (Based on Your Vibe, Not Just Trends)

Uncategorized • June 3, 2025

Let’s be real: planning a brand shoot can stir up all kinds of stress. And one of the biggest things people get stuck on? Outfits. What to wear. What not to wear. Whether they need to “look professional” or go full Pinterest influencer mode.

Here’s the good news—there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to showing up as your brand self. You don’t have to copy someone else’s vibe to look polished. You just have to wear what feels like you—with a little strategy.

Because great brand photos aren’t about blending in. They’re about standing out by being real.

Why your outfit choices matter

Your brand is built on connection. The more comfortable and confident you feel, the more your photos will reflect that—and the easier it is for your audience to connect with you.

So yeah, what you wear for your brand photoshoot actually does matter. Not because you have to be on-trend, but because your outfit helps communicate your energy.

How to choose outfits that match your vibe

Start with how you want people to feel when they land on your site or scroll your feed. Cozy and grounded? Bold and high-energy? Calm and intuitive? Let your vibe guide your style.

Choose colors that flatter your skin tone and fit your brand palette (or at least don’t clash with it). Neutrals are safe, but if mustard yellow or teal lights you up, wear it.

Mix up textures and layers. Add interest with a jacket, a scarf, a wide-brim hat, or a statement necklace—especially if accessories are part of your everyday style.

Bring a few options. Variety gives us more to work with and helps tell a fuller story. I always recommend bringing 2–3 outfits with different energies (example: one casual, one elevated, one bold).

Avoid tiny prints, neon colors, or anything that makes you fidget. If you’re not sure about something, try it on ahead of time and take a selfie. Trust your gut.

Need help deciding what works best for you?

That’s part of what I help with. When you book a shoot with me—especially through the Quarterly Brand Shoot Membership—we talk through outfits, colors, and props that match your brand’s energy and goals. You don’t have to figure it all out alone or show up second-guessing yourself.

I also love partnering with amazing local stylists who truly get brand vibes and personal energy. I’ve personally worked with each of these women and confidently recommend them to my clients:

  • Delee Cox – The Stylist Next Door
Effortless, elevated style that feels approachable and aligned. Delee offers outfit planning, closet edits, and personal shopping with a classic-modern twist. Perfect for women who want to look polished but still feel like themselves.
  • Pualei Lynn
Bold, expressive, and rooted in personality. Pualei blends color, confidence, and statement style to help you show up unapologetically. Ideal for creatives, coaches, and women ready to be seen.
  • Melanie Kennedy
Comfortable, flattering, and super wearable. Melanie offers size-inclusive pieces that are easy to move in, easy to layer, and easy to love—great for brand shoots where you want to feel confident and comfy.

We’ll make sure you look and feel like yourself—just the version that’s confident, connected, and camera-ready.

Let’s make your brand shoot feel like you, not a costume.

Your photos should tell your story, and your clothes are part of that. So instead of asking “what should I wear?” start asking “what feels most like me?”

If you’re ready for brand photos that reflect who you really are—and not just what’s trending—I’d love to help. Let’s chat, or check out my upcoming shoot options and prep guides inside the membership.
